A minor Dalit girl in Delhi, raped and tortured, dies a painful death. The impunity for sexual violence and casteism continues, undisturbed.
In yet another shameful incident posing a big question mark on women’s safety in the National Capital Region, a 14-year-old Dalit girl, who was repeatedly raped and allegedly forced to drink a corrosive substance, passed away at a hospital in Delhi on Sunday.

A 14-year-old Dalit rape victim who was repeatedly sexually assaulted and was forced to drink a corrosive substance, died at a hospital here today, prompting an anguished DCW chief to lash out at the Centre and Delhi police on the issue of women’s safety.
“The girl was fed a corrosive substance which completely destroyed her internal organs and she died a very painful death,” she said, adding that it was only after the Commission issued notice to the DCP (North), the accused who was roaming free was arrested.
Law and order is not only matter of policing but also of attitude of people and there many things remain same irrespective of Which Govt is in power .

It’s still the girl’s fault. She herself consented to drinking acid. She would have been given the right to vote 4 years from now, but her statement was admitted at court when she is a minor. She is mature enough. We moved on from nirbhaya. We moved on from rohtak gangrape. Perhaps moving on is what we know best. We are also good at shallow photo op politics, opinionated journalism, war of words, police insensitivity and anarchy.

“For two months she suffered everyday. She was forced to drink an acid-like substance after which she could not eat anything. Drinking water was also painful. She would vomit blood. Only one accused has been arrested while four are walking free. We want them to be arrested and punished”
